Foods that bring back comforting memories are precious and so is my homemade Paneer. Cottage cheese or paneer rarely made onto the shopping list of my mother, in fact it was never sold in any shop or super market back then.
Three vessels would always occupy the prime space of my mom’s refrigerator, fresh milk, leftover milk and the last one had thick cream or malai collected from the leftover milk.

I am enjoying my journey as a food stylist and was in for a pleasant surprise the other day when I received a call from the ace photographer Venkat Ram.
The photo-shoot was for a popular South Indian brand, Hatsun with a good network in dairy products. The photo-shoot was for their new venture into ready-to-eat frozen food product line by the name Oyalo.

It has been 7 years already and the kind of euphoria that Lite Bite is creating, year after year is beyond words.
Lately I have been so wrapped up in constant outdoor photo-shoots and family commitments that this online baby is completely neglected.
But then, it never ceases to surprise me any less. Lite Bite is listed in the ‘Indian Top Blog’ List‘ of 2015 yet again….some good online karmas I suppose 🙂
Back then, I never questioned her food choices….not that I knew much about it either 🙂

A crazy week of food photo-shoot at Isha yoga center, and I am back home…finally.
With no running around carrying heavy loads of props and no more shots to plan for the days, it feels good to relax & enjoy a bowl of home-cooked ‘Poha’ and ginger tea on my swing.
Hmm… it has been 4 years since I started my first food styling shoot for Brown Tree.
I now have successfully completed more than 15 projects for well know companies and brands of India.

I had a chance to check into my favorite shop during my recent visit to udaipur. The shop holds a good collection of some exclusive and rare rustic foods from Rajasthan. I got surprised when the amount I had to pay for a handful of dried wild berries and beans came upto 4-digits.
“Madam, gone are the days when Ker-Sangri was poor man’s food. These are in vogue now and are much sought-after ingredients by many hi-end restaurants across the world. And we are the largest exporter for the same” He replied matter-of- factly while swiping my credit card.

Christmas is round the corner and it’s just not right without a little bit of baking. I have been baking non-stop for the last few days and loving every moment of packing and sending these goodies to friends.
Nothing can beat the rich spiced Christmas cake loaded with caramel, brandy, vine fruits and nuts. But when short on time, I look forward to my short-cut recipes.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”~Winston Churchill.
“Our company is into motion pictures and TVC (television commercials), are you interested in doing a project with us? If yes, we would like to meet you today, as the shoot schedule and the artists are already fixed” the caller on the other end continued and waited for my reply.
“Sure, I will come in the evening and let you know about my decision” I replied to ‘C’, producer of the Ad agency.
I got to know the enormity of the said project, a television commercial for Malaysia after meeting the director in evening and was slightly skeptical to take it.
I was a bit nervous when I entered the location early morning, what with hundreds of people running helter- skelter carrying giant light boxes, reflectors and the like.
I gave myself a few moments and quickly regained my composure after seeing a few familiar faces on-location. And after that there was no looking back.

Not so long ago, mornings at home used to be quiet and slow. There was ample time to go for a brisk walk, get fresh vegetables en route, sit back, read newspaper and relax with a cup of tea.
And yes, there was absolutely no temptation to check the social media status, answer emails or to update the blog either.
Five years of online journey and suddenly life has become so fast-paced. I find myself chasing ‘time’ with thousand dreams each day. Times when I feel how much media causes to miss out on simple pleasures of life.
Whoever said that,, “Media has a trade-off between its usefulness and its ability to waste your time.”
