Pancakes

Pancakes are a delicious way to start your weekend mornings. You can prepare the batter and refrigerate for upto 3-4 days for later use. Include whole flour of various wholegrain such as wheat, brown rice, ragi, millet, jowar to make the pancakes for more health benefits.  One such recipe using wholewheat flour goes like this;

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup wholewheat flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup yogurt(curd)
  • 2 tsp. Sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1/2  Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp. Baking powder
  • oil or butter for shallow frying

Method: Mix flour, Cinnamon and baking powder thoroughly. Beat yogurt, milk and sugar in a separate bowl till the sugar is dissolved. Add the flour mix in the yogurt mix and blend it well. Keep it aside for 10 minutes. Heat a non-stick griddle and pour a laddleful of batter on it, sprinkle oil and shallow fry both the sides for a minutes till it is golden brown in colour.

Serve the pancakes with honey, fruit syrup, fruit jam or just slurp it plain.
