Lentil sweet or Parappu Payasam โ Discover, Share and Celebrate Good Food
What better than a bowl of healthy dessert and celebrating your happiness for the hard work done. Considering the fact that the said feat is from one who, a couple of months back was even scared to touch the mighty mouse ๐
But as they say โThe desire for knowledge increase with the acquisition of itโ and it proved to be true in my case.
The easy and simple dessert recipe for celebrating this feat goes like this;
Ingredients;
(Makes 2 servings)
- 4-5 tsp. of De husked green gram
- 1/2 lt.ย of milk
- 1 cup of water
- 3 tsp. of Clarified butter or ghee
- 100 gms of Jaggery
- A few Almonds
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
Method: Wash the green gram (moong dal dhuli) and dry it on a kitchen towel. Heat a heavy bottom kadai or wok and dry fry the green gram till it turn light brown in color.
Take off the green gram from the wok and pour 1 cup of water in it and let it boil. Add the fried green gram in water and let it cook till it becomes tender.
Pour 1/2 ltr ofย milk in it and let it cook for another 15-20 minutes till the kheer becomes thick, add cardamom powder in it.
Crush the jaggery to make powder and add it in the wok. Let the mixture cook for another 5-7 minutes. Put off the flame and transfer the prepared kheer in another vessel.
Heat ghee in a small skillet and add crushed almonds in it, fry it for a few seconds. Pour this over the green gram kheer.
