Virtual Party to Welcome 2012

 welcome 2012 recipes

The New Year is here and we know it will be another delicious one. Before we say good-bye to 2011, let’s remember some of our favorite posts (or recipes).

Time to reminiscence; We have planned yet another fun filled virtual party to ‘Leap into 2012 with a peak in 2011’. Let us bring forth some of our best recipes we created in 2011 and also welcome 2012 with a new one.

Come join the fun and spread love and happiness through your scrumptious treats this New Year!

Virtual party in brief;

  1. List some of your most popular recipes (only pictures with a link) in the post.
  2. Include a new recipe to welcome 2012 (optional)
  3. Grab the Blog Hop code for the party.
  4. Link or add the Twitter handles of  bloggers who influenced/impressed you the most in 2011 (optional).
  5. Tweet with the following hashtag #Welcome2012
  6. Blog Hop will be open from 31st Dec night and remain open till 1st week of Jan 2012.

Wholesome Wholegrain Cooking

Wholesome Wholewheat Cooking

Wholesome Wholegrain CookingWWC is the very first monthly on-going food event on Lite Bite.  And I am all excited to host WWC, where all that starts with wholegrain ends being wholesome.

There are loads of informative and delicious events going around the Food blogs, mine is another minuscule effort to peek into your kitchen and get some of your culinary treasures for Lite Bite’s dinning table.

I wanted to make WWC a theme based event, wherein each time the Wholegrain chosen will be generalized into a specific meal. Such as, wholewheat for breakfast, wholewheat for lunch, Cornmeal for breakfast, Cornmeal in lunch and so on. Which in turn might help easy browsing and categorizing the recipes.

Hope you all would like the event and love to share the table.

This is the event calendar for WWC for the year 2011. If you are interested in hosting the WWC in one of the open months, please drop me an email at;

sklitebite[at]yahoo[dot]in

Here’s how WWC works:

  1. Participants should use the ‘Key’ ingredient listed in the WWC for that particular month for preparing any dish they wish.
  2. Post your recipe on your blog during the event’ schedule dates.
  3. Old entries which are re posted during the event schedule dates are allowed.
  4. Only vegetarian recipes, eggs are ok.
  5. No deep fried recipes please.
  6. You must provide a link to this event announcement page and to the guest hosting the event.
  7. The theme and the Key ingredient for WWC will be announced on the same weekend of the round-up, mostly during the first week of the following month.
  8. I would appreciate if you use the above logo for your post, though not mandatory.
  9. The round up of the events will be posted on this page, along side the host’ blog.

Make a meal using the ‘Key’ ingredient and blog about it, send an email with WWC in the subject line to the above mail ID with the following information:

  • Your name-
  • Name of the recipe-
  • Link to your post-
  • Picture of the recipe-

Points to ponder;

The event could be conceived as an ingredient based (wholewheat) or a theme based (wholewheat in baking/lunch)  monthly activity by the respective host of that month.

Wholegrain: Whole grain is that versatile food which can transform any recipe into a filling and healthy meal. Wholegrain are the unprocessed grains in which all the three layers, bran, germ and the endosperm remain intact. While refined grain are devoid of bran & germ making them less nutritive food. More about Wholegrain here;

The Wholesome Wholegrain

WWC is to get more creative ideas from all quarters of culinary world to boost the nutrition in our meals. I hope it will be fun & informative as well to experiment and cook with various wholegrain and add a new dimension to our meal and that is good health.

Some of the most common wholegrain are here for reference;

  • Whole Wheat/Bulgar
  • Brown rice
  • Oats
  • Millet
  • Barley
  • Corn
  • Quinoa
  • Flax seeds
  • Rye
  • Amaranth
  • Spelt
  • Ragi or Finger Millet

More on Wholegrain here.

Let us celebrate this valuable and economical food source Wholegrain.

I am eager to see how these humble grains are being  transformed into  wholesome recipes each month by your creativity and cooking skills. Let us make WWC a fun place to learn and share healthy recipes.
