Broccoli Manchurian – A Perfect Dinner Recipe

Broccoli manchurian recipe

Broccoli Manchurian came to light when my kids refused to try this exotic vegetable with loads of health benefits. Just thought of adding Broccoli with the normal veggie Manchurian I often make, and voila ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Broccoli has become a hot favorite veggie for my kids.

It is a good idea to introduce new veggies to kids at an early age with interesting yet healthy recipes, which they would enjoy eating and ask for more.

Broccoli Manchurian recipe

Ingredients;

(makes 4 servings)

  • 1 cup of grated Broccoli
  • 1/2 cup of grated carrots
  • 1/2 cup of grated cabbage
  • 1 small onion
  • 3-4 tsp. of cornflour
  • 1 tsp. white pepper powder
  • Salt as desired
  • Oil for deep frying

Broccoli Manchurian recipe

Method: Wash all the vegetables and wipe dry them with a clean kitchen napkin.

Grate the Broccoli, carrots and the cabbage with a grater. Peel and slice the onion thinly.

Broccoli Manchurian recipe

Take a big vessel and add all the grated veggies and the sliced onion in it. Mix in the white pepper powder, salt and the cornflour in it.

Mix all the ingredients and bind it into a dough. Take a small portion of the dough and make rounds of a Table Tennis size ball. Prepare all the balls and keep them aside.

Broccoli Manchurian recipe

Heat oil in a wok and deep fry allย  turn the prepared ball in small batches till they brown and crispy from outside. Keep them over a tissue paper to drain excess oil from the Manchurian balls.

At least half of these fried balls were missing when I went for my camera to take pictures for this post ๐Ÿ™‚

Broccoli Manchurian recipe

For the sauce:

  • 4 cups of water
  • 2 tsp. of Cornflour
  • 2 tsp. Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 1 tsp. white pepper powder
  • salt as desire
  • 5-6 tsp. of dark Soya sauce
  • 1 tsp. Ajinomoto salt (optional)
  • 2 tsp. oil

Method: Heat oil in a wok and add the sliced onion and the ginger garlic paste in it. Fry it for 2 minutes.

Mix the cornflour and the Soya sauce in 4 cups of water. Pour this water in the wok and keep cooking till the sauce thickens. Add Pepper, salt and Ajinimoto to the cooked sauce and take off the flames.

Broccoli Manchurian recipe

Assemble the Manchurian: Dip all the cooked balls just 5-6 minutes before serving, else they will soak all the sauce and become soggy.

Take a serving plate, keep 2-3 cooked Manchurian balls and pour the sauce over them.

Serve hot Broccoli Manchurian and enjoy the exotic veggies in a different makeover.

Notes;

  • The above recipe has very mild flavors and is less spicy, mainly keeping in mind the kids and those who dislike spices.
  • The Broccoli Manchurian balls can be shallow fried or microwave to reduce the oil content in the recipe.
  • The balls can also be steamed in a steamer or pressure cooker before adding them to the sauce.
  • The ready to eat satchels for making these sauces available in the market is a good option if you want to avoid making the sauce.
  • Try this Broccoli Soup on Tasty Bites.

Hope you try this exotic veggie Broccoli and include it in your cooking for good. More healthy recipes to come soon, take care.
